Perfect I find a new sidewalk...lots of places in this town could use a new side walk-- but They figured the Heritage District was lookin' a bit OLD... Well as I'm takin' the photo along comes a tourist... and I like talking to Tourists...so you all know my train of thought ..but she doesn't... I asked a few questions and then asked What do you see out of place on this street--well like everyone she pointed out Mrs Hatfield's 1960's bungalow.. Then of course she said ''That white side walk doesn't look right it sort of ruins the street....but I'm real quick see---so I say to her it will match perfectly in FIVE YEARS so you can get the real feel of the Heritage District when you come back for your next visit-----Now How is that for tourism promotion and who are those Tourism Product development Folks Who can Think these things up.

JULY 27 TODAY----The Local Graffitti Artist thought he would use his extra can of green spray to help in the HERITAGE District....... good work.......no, on closer inspection I think it is a fertilizer-----Well looks like this page inspired someone.....After Construction of the sidewalk, curb and gutting the debris has remained untouched since late... Last Year ....

. . . . . .This is The Collins Heritage Conservation District. . . There are no policy statements or by-laws in place to compel the Town or any contracted workers to treat the public land in this heritage conservation district any differently than any other part of town.--------------And it is not treated differently, . . .last summer contracted workers from Wolfville were trimming trees in the area, and when approached, had no idea that it was a conservation district. .. .. ..Curb and guttering, concrete and asphalt are depriving the original 19th century ornamental tree plantings of water, their top branches are bare--they are dying. Cheap metal sign posts have replaced the wooden posts . . .and the wooden . .posts..that remain..have not been painted in .. YEARS... The original streetscape has no protection and even though many property owners went to great expense to preserve the buildings the Town has taken little care in dealing with it's property within this heritage district.---it doesn't have to.
